Virtual Production: “Wander in Wenzhou”
"Wander in Wenzhou" is an immersive virtual photo exhibition that transports visitors to Wenzhou. As the birthplace of China's individual private economy, Wenzhou is a famous hometown for overseas Chinese, including some of Xiaoran's relatives, who engage in business and trade activities around the world.
The exhibition features a 3D environment that recreates the streets of Wenzhou and showcases Xiaoran's documentary photography project, which explores the relationships between identity, collective memory, space, and society.
Through documenting the daily lives of Wenzhou residents, Xiaoran seeks to present an authentic and intimate portrait of the city, exploring how the spaces inhabited by the people shape their identity and sense of belonging while also serving as vessels for collective memory.
The authentic ambience of a Wenzhou street market, recorded in captivating surround sound, envelops the exhibition space, creating an immersive experience that invites viewers to embark on a visual journey to experience the urban character of Wenzhou and how it shapes the lives of its residents.
